Paul Erland could be the only writer living in Nashville who’s never written a song. A former newspaperman, he’s from the Clark Kent school of journalism (never carry a pad, but rely on your super-memory, and make up quotes that make people sound more eloquent than they are). While Truman Capote may have invented the "non-fiction novel," Paul popularized the "fictional-news" story. “Farewells” is a collection of passing thoughts.
