Protective Pucker Power – pH

By Wendell Fowler

Heartburn and acid reflux are symptoms of eating the standard American diet and not enough fermented foods. Taking a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar with each meal ensures your stomach acid will be acidic enough to start the process of good digestion.

Have you heard the good news about, raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, especially with its “mother” (strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria that give the product a murky, cobweb-like appearance)? There's tons of research supporting the link between an acidic pH and cancer. An acid environment is ideal for cancer growth. Hence, making your temple more alkaline is vital in the battle against cancer and today’s chronic illnesses.

It's something you normally don't consider, but there's an ecosystem just below your skin. Is yours acid or alkaline (acidic bad-alkaline good)? A pH of 7 is neutral, less than 7 acidic, greater than 7 ideal. Litmus paper inserted under your tongue first thing in the morning before you place anything into your mouth is most accurate.

From eating the crap belched from the carbo-centric, processed, standard American diet (SAD), your blood has become acidic, imbalanced –  a welcome mat for disease.  The book Alkalize or Die, claims apple cider vinegar (ACV) with the mother, has an alkalizing effect. The National Institutes of Health states that ACV has been found in a number of cell and animal studies to have anti-tumor properties.

On a holistic level, this amazing whole food is good for every organ system. The British Journal of Nutrition suggests ACV possibly can reduce total cholesterol, triglycerides levels, candida, and diabetes risk. After 10 years of study, Arizona State University's nutrition program finds ACV effects on blood sugar are similar to certain pharmaceutical meds and may help diabetics control their blood sugar. A plethora of human studies highlight ACV’s anti-glycemic effect on insulin response and blood glucose levels after a meal (NIH). ACV may also lower the glycemic response to starchy carbohydrates. ACV has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels, helping to curb cravings and kick extra calories out.

ACV is also a tool for getting rid of candida that leads to low energy, poor digestion, yeast infections, canker sores and other uncomfortable symptoms.  Candida occurs often if you eat a poor diet, high in refined sugar and carbohydrates, or take lots of antibiotics. Vinegar has been used since ancient times as a cure for foot fungus and killing molds. It's magical how something as humble as vinegar may be such an effective treatment.

Everyone's innards become toxic after a lifetime of environmental exposure. The unique acids in ACV bind to toxins and allow us to release them more effectively.  Adding a cup to a hot bath with some Epsom salts will kick start your cleansing lymphatic system into releasing toxins. When combined with fresh lemon juice ACV is even more powerful.

Heartburn and acid reflux are symptoms of eating the standard American diet and not enough fermented foods. Taking a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar with each meal ensures your stomach acid will be acidic enough to start the process of good digestion.

It's easy incorporating fermented ACV into your daily diet. Just two teaspoons of organic ACV diluted in 6 oz. of lukewarm water daily can help restore blood pH level. It is suggested to drink this mixture right before meals. 1 to 2 teaspoons of organic ACV diluted in 12 oz. of lukewarm water, drunk slowly throughout the day can also help control severe food cravings which indirectly helps restore body pH level.

Clearly, taking proactive dietary measures to make your temple more alkaline is vital in the battle against cancer and many of today's largely preventable diseases. Pucker up, friends, perfect health is your divine right.
